WPTV is learning more about an internship on the Treasure Coast with the aim of preparing St Lucie County teens with real world work experience.

TCCEED’s expanded Summer Internship Program connected 61 St. Lucie County students with paid, hands-on career experiences across nearly 50 local employers – doubling employer participation from its first year and strengthening pathways between education, workforce development, and the local business community.

Business Facilities highlights TCCEED’s Truist Foundation grant award, which will expand industry-recognized training and connect approximately 100 Treasure Coast residents with local employment opportunities in high-demand industries.

The Treasure Coast Center for Economic and Educational Development has welcomed several new members to its Board of Directors, bringing additional expertise and leadership to support workforce development, education, and economic growth initiatives across the region.

Hands-on demonstrations of exciting careers in healthcare, construction, logistics, communications, technology, public service and much more were on display for 760 St. Lucie Public Schools eighth graders on Nov. 12 at the school district offices in Port St. Lucie.

Sixteen-year-old Callie Post spends her summer mornings cruising the Indian River Lagoon aboard a pontoon boat, helping younger students explore mangroves and seagrass beds.

The Treasure Coast Center for Economic and Educational Development, the 501(c)3 arm of the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County, is teaming up with several other agencies including the Boys and Girls Club of St. Lucie County to get these students ready.
